MANY WILL BE SURPRISED BY HOW STRONG THE WAKEBOARD FAN BASE REALLY IS Over the past two months, an organisation called iSportConnect has run a survey to try to measure the level of support for the eight sports which are contending for that single place in the 2020 Olympic Games. They also tried to see which possible host city would be most favoured. The first phase Survey Results have just been released – and the second phase will be reported in September - SO PLEASE KEEP VOTING. The results are full of surprises ! NATALLIA BERDNIKOVA HITS THE WORLD CUP HEADLINES YET AGAIN ! World Cup Star Natallia Berdnikava BLR is certainly one of the all-time greats in our sport but few have hit the World Record books so often. We saw on July 5th her new Overall Record approved of 58.4m Jump + 9420 Tricks +1 at 11.25 Slalom – all to produce 3054.65 Overall points. Now on July 18, just two weeks later, we see that her May 19th performance at the Masters LCQ has now also been approved – ANOTHER NEW OVERALL WORLD RECORD. This time the scores are 58.0 Jump + 9740 Tricks + 3 at 11.25 Slalom – all to deliver 3126.52 Overall points. What a performance and What a talent. Congrats yet again Nati.

Australia’s First World Cup Stop Thrills 100,000 Mandurah Spectators in Western Australia

  The EYRES Action Sport Games Mandurah turned out to be the perfect stage for launching the 33rd World Cup Stop for Waterski and Wakeboard. It was also the first Stop ever to be staged in Australia. At the closing ceremony, Mayor Paddi Creevey confirmed that this is part of a four-year agreement with the International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation (IWWF).  The event is supported by the State Government through Eventscorp’s Regional Events Program, which is funded by Royalties for Regions. As a World Cup location, Mandurah is impressive. With 22 Nations represented in this 32nd Waterski & Wakeboard World Cup Stop of the Series, this again attracted one of the largest numbers of spectators to date. The spectacular Linyi City purpose built World Cup Stadium on the downtown Yihe River bank in Shandong Province is an architectural masterpiece. The finishing touches were completed exactly on time as the overseas athletes arrived this weekend. Following two days of Practice and Preliminary Rounds, Sunday’s World Cup Finals took place in 23C sunshine with excellent water conditions.   This 31st World Cup Stop of the International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation (IWWF) was impressive by any standards. By combining efforts with the historic Sarawak Regatta in Kuching City which dates back to 1872, it attracted the largest audience ever seen in this successful World Cup Series. The Regatta involved a record 6,700 Paddlers and 345 boat teams. The event also included the Stars of Florida Waterski Show Team. Waterski & Wakeboard World Cup Series Will Travel From Sarawak To Linyi – Voted China’s most Competitive City By World Bank
