WORLD CUP 2009 FOR RUSSIA – CHINA – MALAYSIA

Having successfully completed 26 Waterski and Wakeboard World Cup Stops around the World, even the current serious global recession could not stop the momentum gathered by this series over the years. The International Water Ski Federation (IWSF) released details today of the 2009 World Cup calendar. Yet again, it can be best described as both exciting and exotic !

World Cup 2009

One again. MasterCraft will supply all the boats for the 2009 World Cup season and getting them in place on time is always a huge challenge when global calendars are involved !

First up will be a return to the City of Dubna in Russia. This excellent Volga River site has been a foundation stone of the World Cup series since 2004. With permanent seating on the river bank for over 30,000 spectators, the atmosphere once again is guaranteed to be electric. The citizens of Dubna will once again make this a special experience. The dates for this Stop are July 10/12. The events involved will be JUMP and SHORTBOARD

Next on the calendar will be a totally new and exciting experience for all. Located 727km west of Hong Kong in China, the City of Liuzhou with its 2100 year history, will host a World Cup Stop for the very first time. Surrounded by rolling hills, mountains and caves, the river site will stage JUMP and WAKEBOARD on October 1/3.  As it will fall within a national holiday period and will form part of a major Watersports Festival, our World Cup athletes will be on centre stage ! it is anticipated that the Finals will be broadcast nationally by Central China TC (CCTV)

From Russia and China, the World Cup will then move on to what was one of the most exciting locations on the 2008 calendar - Putrajaya in Malaysia. This magnificent site has everything – purpose built Grand Stand, landscaped Jetties and impressive glass Judges Tower, first class Hotel, great skiing facilities, white sandy beach and even Palm Trees ! The 2008 Stop generated a huge increase in local interest in the sport and so a return to Putrajaya this year will be even more exciting for all. The dates will be November 6/8 and the events will be SLALOM, SHORTBOARD and JUMP.

At this time, discussions continue with other possible 2009 World Cup venues and details will be released here on those developments as required.
