WORLD CUP PREPARATIONS – JODI FISHER GBR
To win a World Cup season Crystal Trophy is quite a challenge. It is one thing to achieve top place on the podium on flat calm water, just down the road from your home and in glorious sunshine with your usual food waiting for you at the end of the day. Winning a World Cup season title is a whole new ball game – long-haul flights, time zone changes, variable water conditions, climate extremes, huge audiences and exotic menus – are all part of the test !  World Cup star Jodi Fisher (GBR) really has defied the odds by taking no less than THREE World Cup Slalom titles in 2005, 2006 and 2008. His is a talent of the highest order.

Born in Mansfield in England – in the same Hospital as Glenn Campbell – and married to Nicola with two children, Jodi now runs his very successful international Jodi’s Ski School in Winter Garden, Florida. He is also a frequent visitor to the famous Princes Club in London, England. His litany of great Slalom wins is impressive – including European Slalom Champion, two time Moomba Masters Slalom Champion, and World Cup Stop Slalom titles in Russia, Northern Ireland, England and Qatar. As far back as twenty years ago, Jodi was an impressive Slalom, Trick and Jump competitor. Since 2003, he has not been outside the top 10 in the world in the IWSF Elite Ranking Table for Slalom, his event of choice these days. At 38 years of age, his 2008 achievements were truly outstanding and entering the 2009 season as the defending World Cup Slalom Champion says it all.

Finishing in Putrajaya Malaysia last November on a high with second place on the podium for that Stop, Jodi immediately returned to coaching in Orlando, Florida and to enjoy a brief rest during the Christmas break. He then flew to London England for the International Boat Show and to spend time with the team at MasterCraft, the official World Cup boat sponsors. In July and August this year, in between World Cup Stops, he will again train at Princes Club, down the road from Heathrow Airport in London. Jodi tells us that he has two major objectives for 2009 – to successfully defend his World Cup Slalom title, and to make a real impact at the Waterski World Championships in Calgary, Canada on August 3/9. With his enormous experience and consistency, Jodi Fisher really will be one to watch this year – and all the details will be available here on our Website at : www.waterskiandwakeboardworldcup.com
