THIS YEAR’S FORTY SEVENTH WORLD CUP STOP IN SHANGHAI TO FEATURE CABLE JUMP AND CABLE WAKEBOARD

With a population of over 24 million, Shanghai is one of the most exciting cities in the world today. On October 2/4, our IWWF World Cup Riders and Skiers will return once again.

In 2015, with the support of the Chinese Water Ski Association, the IWWF World Cup made history here when a total of  forty countries were represented in Wakeboard and Jump. The perfect man-made Cable Park at Bi Hai Jin Sha Water Park on the outskirts of the city is expected to attract huge numbers of spectators this year. Located within the unique Shanghai Haiwan tourist area with its clean imported sandy beaches, the Rixen Cable system in the Cable Park will be the highlight of this holiday period. Full updates and photos will be uploaded here on our World Cup Website, on our IWWF Website and on our IWWF and World Cup Facebook Pages below.

The previous World Cup Stop here in Shanghai was dominated by athletes from Germany, Poland and Russia. In spite of some unusual windy conditions, the World Cup Cable Jump gold medals were taken home by Kamil Borysewicz (POL) and Alexandra Gibinska (RUS). In Wakeboard, Julia Rick (GER) was stunning. Her gold medal winning run included a 90210, Backside 313, Backside 270, and a Backside 5 off the Kicker ! In Open Men, past World Cup champion Dominik Guhrs (GER), did not appear to notice the windy conditions and finishing his run with a Toeside Backside 450 off the Funbox gave him yet another World Cup gold medal.

Will these World Cup champions return once again to defend their titles in Shanghai ? We will just have to wait for the final Entry List later this summer to see !
