This 31st World Cup Stop of the International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation (IWWF) was impressive by any standards. By combining efforts with the historic Sarawak Regatta in Kuching City which dates back to 1872, it attracted the largest audience ever seen in this successful World Cup Series. The Regatta involved a record 6,700 Paddlers and 345 boat teams. The event also included the Stars of Florida Waterski Show Team.With the support of Sarawak State Government represented by the Ministry of Tourism and Heritage, it was sponsored by World of Watches, Revive Isotonic Drinks, Riverside Majestic Hotel, MasterCraft, International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation (IWWF) and the Malaysian Waterski & Wakeboard Federation.Only the top 30 IWWF Men and Women Wakeboard Riders were invited...

PRACTICE AND WOMENS SEMI-FINALS TODAY AT KUCHING WAKEBOARD WORLD CUP STOP

HUGE CROWDS AGAIN ENJOY OPENING EVENTS AT KUCHING SARAWAK BORNEO STOP Stars of Florida in Kuching Practice kicked off on Friday at 07.30hrs on the downtown river site here in Kuching. With 32C from dawn, Riders and spectators were on site from the very start. By 09.30hrs, both Women and Men Practice was completed. The local organisation directed by Hanifah Yoong has been flawless and time management has been perfect from the start. Following the Practice session in rolly waters, it was time to introduce the Stars of Florida Ski Show Team. Don Buffa yet again delivered a sample for the crowd which brought early morning applause from the appreciative audience. RIDERS FROM 20 COUNTRIES ARRIVE IN BORNEO FOR WORLD CUP ACTION Harley Clifford, Daniel Powers, Andrew Adkison and Steel Lafferty The atmosphere here in Kuching City in Sarawak Borneo is fantastic. It seems like the World Cup Stop has already started with thousands on site all day today just to enjoy the preparations for the weekend’s action on the water. Between the Malaysia Day celebrations, the historic Sarawak Regatta which dates back to 1872 – and our Wakeboard World Cup Stop, its like an enormous Carnival. The riverside is full of restaurants and shops and it seems like every family in Sarawak has taken the weekend off to enjoy the fun. Waterskiing – 14 Sep 2011 As all the focus of the Waterski & Wakeboard World Cup is on Kuching City in Sarawak this coming weekend, already preparations are also at an advanced stage in Linyi City which will host the 32nd Stop of the Series on the following weekend. Large numbers of spectators are expected at both major events. Facing the Yellow Sea in south east China on the Yihe River, Linyi City has a 2,400 year history and a population today of 10 million. On the Eurasian Land Bridge, it is actually now possible to travel from here by train to Rotterdam – a distance of almost 12,000km !
