CONGRATULATIONS – Now that we are just a few days from the end of another year, the International Water Ski Federation (IWSF) today announced the top awards of the year. We are delighted to see that both the male and female SKIERS and RIDERS of 2008 also happen to be four of the most outstanding Waterski and Wakeboard World Cup athletes. We all greatly look forward to seeing them again in the action packed 2009 World Cup series and those full details will be released shortly. Congratulations to Jaret, Clementine, Phillip and Dallas. JARET LLEWELLYN (CAN) Jaret retains his position as the number one ranked overall male skier in the World today. He is consistently in the top two in the men’s jump event at the World Cup and other Elite tournaments. He is a most popular competitor and has finished in a podium position in all the major jump events of 2008, with wins at Moomba, New Zealand and the Copa America. He also won Tricks in the Dubna World Cup and came second at the Moomba Masters.
CLEMENTINE LUCINE (FRA)
Clementine remains the best overall skier in the World today. Her best event is Tricks and she has a pending World Trick Record of 8840 points awaiting ratification by the World Tournament Council. She is the EAME Overall Champion 2008 and holds the EAME Trick and Overall records. She has been on the podium at each of the World Cup stops in 2008 in both Slalom and Tricks, with wins in Tricks in Dubna and Slalom in Putrajaya
PHILLIP SOVEN (USA)
From World Cup, Singapore – Philip Soven showed his class to successfully defend his title against the magnificent backdrop of the Marina Bay and Singapore cityscape today. Amazingly, it is the young American’s fifth straight Wakeboard World Cup Singapore title
DALLAS FRIDAY (USA)
From World Cup, Singapore – Crowd favourite Dallas Friday also proved beyond all doubts just why she is considered the best female rider in the business by completely demolishing the competition in the women’s field to win by a massive 20-point margin.
