KUNO RITSCHARD ANNOUNCES MAJOR FIVE YEAR WORLD CUP AGREEMENT

Finding both new suitable World Cup sites and capable World Cup hosts and sponsors is not an easy task. This is why our IWWF President, Kuno Ritschard, does not get home to Switzerland as often as he might like !  Long hours in the air are however paying off for the World Cup and its future.

Liuzhou City offers a spectacular World Cup stage !

When both a good site and suitable partners are located, it is a time to celebrate. This is why the World Cup Team are delighted to announce the new FIVE year World Cup agreement with the Liuzhou Municipal Government to bring the World Cup series to the South-West region of China. Working with the Water Sports Administration of China, Chinese Waterski Association and Liuzhou Sports Council, the IWWF have agreed a plan to stage the very first World Cup Stop here on the downtown Liu River on October 1/3 2009. Much will be learned from this first effort.   The chief sponsor will be leading vehicle manufacturers SGMW, a joint venture between SAIC Motor Corporation Ltd., Liuzhou Wuling Motors Co. Ltd and GM China. Once again, MasterCraft will be the official Boat sponsor, having filled this position for the past 27 World Cup Stops.

This is not the first time Liuzhou City has hosted a major watersports event by any means. The Formula 1 Boat Racing crews are very familiar with the facilities as we can see from the panoramic view and Liuzhou is committed to developing its watersports calendar even more in the years ahead. Now both the World Cup and our own sport will be part of this very exciting development.
